【Notice】Strengthening the Promotion of Quarantine Information to Foreign Students on Preventing the Invasion of Major Transboundary Animal Diseases such as African Swine Fever
Purpose:
To enhance the awareness among foreign students on campus regarding the prevention of major transboundary animal diseases such as African Swine Fever, detailed information is provided below for your reference.
Details:
1. This notice is in accordance with the official letter No. 1141867995A issued on May 20, 2025, by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine
Agency, Ministry of Agriculture.
2. As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, historical data indicates a potential increase in cases of illegal importation. Please strengthen awareness efforts
among foreign students to prevent the unlawful import of animal products and to safeguard agricultural production in Taiwan. In order to implement
border quarantine measures effectively, foreign students are requested to cooperate with Taiwan's quarantine regulations and refrain from bringing any
quarantinable animals, plants, or related products into the country. They are also advised to inform their relatives and friends abroad not to mail pork
products or other animal quarantine items to Taiwan, to avoid penalties.
3. Individuals bringing pork products from countries or regions affected by African Swine Fever within the past three years will be subject to the following
penalties:
‧ First offense: A fine of NT$200,000.
‧ Second offense: A fine of NT$1,000,000.
‧ Non-residents who fail to pay the NT$200,000 fine on the spot will be denied entry by the National Immigration Agency, as referred by the local branch of
the Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine Agency.
Additionally, from May 20, 2022, recipients of mailed pork products from countries or regions affected by African Swine Fever will face the following
penalties:
‧ First offense: A fine of NT$200,000.
‧ Second and subsequent offenses: A fine of NT$1,000,000.
